1. How do I join the IAA or renew my membership?

Answer: To sign up via the Internet, simply go to the IAA Online Book Store and choose the appropriate membership type.

2. Do I need to be a certified arborist to be a member?

Answer: No, you may be a member of the IAA just for the simple fact that you love trees and want to be a part of a great organization.

3. Do I have to be a member of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) in order to be an IAA member?

Answer:  No. You may be a member of the IAA without Joining the ISA.

4. What are the benefits of IAA membership?

1. Do I need to be a member of the IAA and ISA to become certified?

Answer: No, however, being a member in IAA and ISA will afford you to purchase books, classes and exam fees at a greatly reduced rate.

2. Are there any prerequisites to taking the certification exams?

Answer: Yes, Each certification has different prerequisites.  Please click here to view the criteria for the various certifications.

3. Are there any additional requirements for certification?

Answer:  Yes.  Certification requires that you acquire a certain amount of continuing education units, i.e., Certified Arborist (30 – CEUs over 3-year period).  Please visit our Certification Page for additional information.
