Topic: IAA & ILCA Partnership
Description: The Illinois Arborist Association (IAA) and the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA) are forging a stronger relationship that will help both organizations achieve our goals and will continue to work toward healthier trees across the state of Illinois. The partnership is based on alignment in training, cross-event engagement, and legislative efforts. In the forum introduction, Melissa and Paul will talk about the history of collaboration between these two organizations and highlight some of the new initiatives and ongoing efforts to ensure an enduring partnership.
The majority of the session will be focused on dialogue and soliciting your feedback as urban forestry experts on how this partnership could improve the health of the urban forest in Illinois. Prepare to discuss your biggest challenges in working with landscape professionals, what you wish non-arborists understood about urban forest management, and what basic forestry skills are most critical for non-arborists to get right when they work on and near trees. The outcomes of these discussions will be used to inform ongoing IAA and ILCA collaborative projects.
