Topic: The Carrot & the Stick – Persuading Tree Plantings on Private Property
Description: With the majority of available planting space located on private property, many communities are looking for ways to get more trees planted there. Beginning in 2022, The Village of Glenview began a rebate program to incentivize these goals and in 2023 their neighbor, The Village of Wilmette followed, suit. In this presentation, we will use these two communities as case studies and discuss how these programs function by examining their administrative processes and budgets as well as their benefits and limitations.
