Maintenance Worker I
Public Works Department – Forestry & Grounds Unit
The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker I, Forestry & Grounds Unit, in the Public Works Department.
Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), one or more years of experience in general or municipal maintenance and repair or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Additional Requirement: Valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A with airbrake and tanker endorsements is preferred or must be obtained within six months of hire. Must be able to respond to emergency call outs. ISA Certified Arborist and experience in tree care preferred. Additional requirement of an Illinois Pesticide License or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the maintenance of trees, municipal grounds and right-of- ways; plants, cultivates and cares for trees, flowers and shrubs; treats trees with pesticides and fertilizers; assists in trimming trees and loads branches onto truck or feeds into chipper. Participates in snow and ice control operations. Operates basic equipment and machinery. May operate more complex equipment for short periods of time. This is a multi-level position classification.
Minimum starting salary for this position is $61,684. Includes a diverse and competitive benefits package.
