This is an event for competitors to have hands on demonstration and practice with the work climb and aerial rescue events, as well as a great opportunity for those interested in volunteering or judging at upcoming climbing competition events. A fun and interactive event to learn all about the Illinois Tree Climbing Championship and ITCC event. All registered attendees will receive an electronic version of the ITCC rule book and have the opportunity to interact and talk with current and past competitors, judges and more!

Register as a climbing participant or non-climbing participant. If you are climbing, please bring PPE and climbing gear, a gear check at the beginning of the event will be required for all.*

*Some harnesses and climbing equipment will be available for use, provided by IAA, but will be limited availability. Gear only needed for those planning to climb.

Schedule of Event

7 am – Check In, Welcome & Gear Check                                                    

Learn when to inspect, what to look for, where to find information, and what to do when you find questionable items. This is a gear check for safety as well as learning. A climber gear inspection sheet will be provided and required to be signed off by the inspector and climber prior to utilizing any of the below climbing stations. 

8 am – Work Climb Intro, Walk Thru & Demonstration                        

Learn about the work climb event, including how to do it, the judging process and what you will be judged on. Gain not only tips on improving your performance of the event, but also how to assist as a volunteer or judge of the event.

9am – Aerial Rescue Intro, Walk Thru & Demonstration                               

Learn about the aerial rescue event, how to do it, the judging process and what you will be judged on. Gain tips for improving your performance of this event, as well as expectations and needs in the area of volunteers and judges needed for the event.

10 am – Attendee Engagement & Event Practice       

Enjoy the freedom of going to either station and observing, climbing or learning how to perform the event or how you can assist as a volunteer or judge. Only those registered as climbers will be able to actually climb at the event, all gear must be checked at gear check at the beginning of the event.

12 pm – Lunch

12:30 pm – Cont’d Engagement & Event Practice  

Continued engagement and practice is encouraged at both events, as well as checking out the tree climbing championship information area to learn about the other events or how to be a volunteer or judge at upcoming tree climbing competition events.
