Title: Pest Update & Drought Information
Speaker: Dr. Fredric Miller
Summary:This presentation will include a comprehensive update of arthropod pests seen in 2018 and what we might anticipate in 2019. We will address the potential impact of the polar vortex on overwintering insects and how that might affect pest populations in 2019. We will include a detailed discussion of how drought affects woody plants and how it plays a role in plant dieback and decline leading to secondary insect infestations. An update on new exotic invasives (i.e. spotted lanternfly, brown marmorated stink bug, viburnum leaf beetle, etc.) will be presented.
