Title: Advanced Pesticide Application and Safety: Going on Beyond General Standards
Class Description: This course builds on the basics of the IDA General Standards Pesticide Certification program, exploring tree physiology, weather, and soil conditions (e.g., texture, moisture, pH) that affect systemic chemical applications. Topics include soil and tree injection methods, biorational pesticides (e.g., oils, soaps, botanicals), biological control integration, recognizing beneficial organisms, tank mixing considerations (e.g., water pH), herbicide drift prevention and damage diagnosis, environmentally friendly pesticide use, label interpretation, pesticide modes of action, applicator safety, and proper calibration. Classroom exercises and scenarios will reinforce key concepts.
