Topic: “Confirmation Before Diagnosis: Jump Through Hoops, not to Conclusions”
Description: Trees are a valuable asset to public property but may they develop issues which require a diagnosis to develop a management plan. However, inaccurate diagnosis may lead to mismanagement and/or premature removal. This session will explore the diagnostic process of common tree issues in Illinois, particularly those affecting Oaks, so that practitioners can formulate an informed management decision with accuracy. Topics discussed include: diagnostic process, current Oak issues and management, soil and/or tissue sampling process, and field tools used to provide more longevity in your urban forest.
