8:15am – Competition (Work Climb, Aerial Rescue, & Ascent Event)
Sunday May 21st
8:15am Competition (Belayed Speed Climb, Throwline, & Master’s Challenge)
Join us for 2 days of competitive tree climbing and fun at the IAA Tree Climbing Championship. The 2023 IAA Tree Climbing Championship will be held on May 20th & 21st. Day 1 will begin with competitor gear check at 7:15am and the competition starting at 8:15am with these 3 events – Work Climb, Aerial Rescue, and Ascent Event. Day 2 will begin at 8:15am with the last 2 events – Belayed Speed Climb and Throwline, ending with the Master’s Challenge. Male and female competitors will compete to win the title of top climber for the State of Illinois and then move on to compete in the International competition being held in Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 11th – 13th of 2023 for World title.
Tree climbing competitions are designed to simulate the working conditions of production arborists who work in the field. Utilizing the highest level of professional skills and safety, the events provide a competitive learning environment for those working in the industry.
