Job Title:  Sales & Business Development Manager       Location: West Chicago
Reports to: Director of Operations Department:Sales

The following is a list of specific duties, which are considered to be essential functions of the Sales Manager position. The list is not exhaustive as all positions at Kramer Tree Specialists are dynamic.  This is consistent with our need to be flexible and responsive to the needs of our customers.  The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list. 

MAJOR OBJECTIVES:

Supervise and lead the day to day activities of the Sales team staff ensuring client service meets our core values of safety, professionalism, innovation and exceptional client service.  Duties include business development engagement, client relationship development and maintenance, staff coaching, training, job cost and sales analysis and support of the Kramer Tree Sales Arborists, Specialist and Sales Associates. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise, train, develop, and lead the Sales team staff to effectively and professionally sell all Kramer Tree offered services in accordance with all applicable standards and industry accepted professional work practices.  
  • Assign and oversee all sales leads and requests for services to ensure that they are handled in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify, design, develop and implement business development strategies in order to enhance the exposure and sales of the company’s various services offered throughout all company Departments.
  • Primary representative for company associations and membership engagement responsibilities, keeping all applicable staff aware of business development opportunities
  • Identify, lead, participate and engage sales team staff in business development opportunities such as tradeshows, festivals, association events and any other applicable networking or business development event.
  • Identify, develop, project, set, analyze and monitor annual sales goals and metrics.
  • Assess and manage all sales staff performance and production through reviews, job cost analysis and quarterly sales commission reviews with each Sales Arborist.
  • Assure that all Sales team staff respond professionally and with tact to all client concerns and promptly resolve them in order to ensure exceptional client service consistency.
  • Assure that the Sales team staff are in accordance with all company standard operating procedures.
  • Learn and understand all company services and product lines in order to continually develop and train all sales staff on new sales tools, techniques and KTS services offered.
  • Ability to effectively work remotely and in the office with flexible hours and occasional weekends, travel will be required daily throughout the local area, with occasional over night travel, overnight travel would be less than 5% of the year
  • Involvement in recruiting strategies and events as well as social media and email marketing campaigns.

REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Arboriculture/urban forestry or related knowledge background, including tree identification, pest and pathogen diagnostics and a general understanding of operations and equipment capabilities in common arboriculture practices.
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple assignments in a professional and timely manner. 
  • The ability to preemptively identify problems and work in conjunction with others to implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for staff and client interactions, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Solution oriented personality and willingness to work with others to develop effective strategies and plans.
  • Experience with MS Office, client database software, and knowledge of social media engagement tools and the various platforms and email marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and drive on a daily basis for extended periods of time.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Minimum 2 years previous sales and/or management experience; client service and/or management training highly desired.
  • ISA Certified Arborist (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry/Urban Forestry/Horticulture or related field highly desired
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s license or ability to transfer from out of state within 90 days of employment
