Foreman – Forestry and Alleys

The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (12,590 – 2010 census) is a diverse home-rule municipality directly north of the City of Chicago consisting of 2.7 square miles, with a unique blend of residential, commercial, and manufacturing areas. The Village is seeking an individual to serve as Foreman for the Forestry and Alleys Division.
The Forestry and Alleys Foreman is responsible for managing and maintaining the Urban Forest, as well as coordinating and performing maintenance to the Village’s public alleys, and street lighting system. Work involves the responsibility for scheduling, supervising and participating in projects; planning and coordinating work assignments; scheduling crews, coordinating the purchase and usage of materials, and overseeing the safe use of equipment; and inspecting work. Projects are managed to ensure that work is completed safely, effectively and efficiently, and in accordance with standard practices and procedures. Work includes contact with the public and responding to complaints and requests. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through reports and conferences with the Superintendent.

The candidate’s education shall include a high school diploma and a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Additionally, the successful candidate shall have certifications as an International Society of Arboriculture Arborist, as well as an Aerial Lift Specialist and Pesticide/Herbicide license within 12 months of their hire date. Candidates shall have a minimum of five years of previous experience in Public Works and/or forestry operations along with supervisory experience.

The hourly rate for this position is $34.62 – $45.70 ($72,010.89 – $95,054.37). This position is classified as a full-time, non-exempt, non-union, position.
