Date: Thursday, December 14, 2017
Time: 10:00-12:00pm
Title: Tree Mapping Technologies for Modern Urban Forest Management
Summary: What is the worst type of inventory to have? One that is not used! In a perfect world, tree inventories operate as living breathing documents. The minute they become static is the moment that their validity diminishes. Together we will explore the modernization in tree inventory software that is becoming more accessible and user-friendly, connecting people and trees in a whole new way.  We also will discover terms, tools, and tricks of the trade for cloud-based GIS tree inventory collection, tree care/consulting, data analysis and work management. The introduction of tree inventory data collection using GPS vs. GIS methods, online and offline modes, map tools, web browser & web services technology, and data management on a desktop, tablet, or a smart phone. Including advanced tools such as Tree Protection Zones, CTLA appraisal valuation, work order tracking/automation, and ISA TRAQ forms/fields.
