Bur Oak Blight (BOB), causal agent Tubakia iowensis, is a severe fungal pest of bur oak, which can kill the tree. First described and observed in Iowa it has been a waiting game for it to come to Northern Illinois. Disease spread is favored by wet conditions in the spring, which we have had the last few years. There is now a lab confirmed case in McHenry County. Come observe the symptoms, learn about the life cycle of the disease, specifics about the host preference, and the most recent management suggestions.
